McLaren seat ends from 1890s

This late 1890s pair of cast iron garden seat ends is a spectacular showcase of Victorian foundry work, featuring the highly prized and intricate Andrew McLaren leafwork design.
 
Renowned for creating some of the most elegant architectural ironwork of the late 19th century, the McLaren foundry captured the essence of the period with this flowing, botanical scrollwork.
 
Currently it is going under a restoration project. These ends are slated to be fitted with 18 premium Iroko hardwood slats. Known for its incredible durability and rich grain, the Iroko will be meticulously finished and protected with traditional Tung oil to bring out its natural warmth.
 
Whether the new owner decides to preserve the "as found" crusty historic patina of the iron ends or coat them in a classic heritage paint color, this completed bench will stand as a magnificent, heavy-duty statement piece capable of gracing a premium garden or courtyard for another century.
 
Restoration update: this exceptional piece is currently mid-transformation as we prep the Iroko timber.
