Duncan Ayscough stoneware vase
These exceptional examples of smoke fired and burnished stoneware showcase the masterful technique of Duncan Ayscough.
The taller squat vase stands 29cm high and features a slender neck finished with delicate gold leaf to the inner rim, bearing the distinctive DA studio stamp. It is accompanied by a similar vessel standing 28cm high, which is elegantly adorned with a silvered leaf inner rim and carries the same artist mark. Both pieces exhibit the rich, earthy textures and nuanced tonal variations achieved through the traditional smoke firing process.
These vases represent a sophisticated fusion of ancient pottery methods and contemporary aesthetic refinement, making them a significant addition to any collection of modern British ceramics.
